Description |
(1) Zhus-chen mentions three classes of scribes, namely, “the best of the best” (yang rab), “best” (rab), and “mediocre” (’bring). Apparently “third-class” (tha ma) scribes were not employed at all. (2) In the g.Ya' sel (B, p. 142.5), it seems yi ge pa is used in the sense of a “man of letters.” [DW] This term is found in translation colophons of canonical texts. It is thus one of the “editorial terms” listed by Bischoff taken from the colophons of the bKa’ ’gyur. For references see Bischoff 1983.
