ཤོག་དེབ། shog deb

Headword

ཤོག་དེབ། shog deb

Translation

(1) (probably) “bundle of paper”
(2) “folio”

Description

Today Tibetans would most likely refer to a “folio” as shog deb, but this is apparently not how Nyang-ral uses the term. Most likely for him, shog deb is “a bundle of paper.” See the Nyang ral chos ’byung (pp. 408–109). Thus deb seems to be used as a unit of measuring the quantity of paper just as the quantity of “ink” (snag tsha) is expressed in terms of yug (perhaps “slab”).
