Description |
The Tshig mdzod chen mo (s.v. yi ge dpod rtsom) explains yi ge dpod rtsom as follows: “composition [of a work] by dictating the text of a work to another [person] (i.e., a scribe)” (yig tshig gzhan la dpod bzhin du rtsom pa |). Cf. also yig dpod and yi ge dpod pa, which mean “dictating [the text] to a scribe,” and it appears that the text that one is dictating could be one’s own (i.e., of the author’s) or of someone else (i.e., of a previous/another author). This might explain how the treasure texts or textual treasures of illiterate “treasure revealers” (gter ston/bton) came to be written down. |
