Description |
The term zhu(s) chen refers to a chief or senior editor, either in the case of production of a new copy (normally of larger collections) or in the case of proofreading and finalising a translation. The title therefore is often used as an epithet of a translator (Tshig mdzod chen mo, s.v. zhus chen lo tsā ba). This term is therefore often found in translation colophons of canonical texts. The term is thus one of the “editorial terms” listed by Bischoff taken from the colophons of the bKa’ ’gyur. For references see Bischoff 1983.
